Press Brake Operator Job Responsibilities Include

  • Set up and operate CNC press brake machines to bend, form, or punch metals.
  • Interpret blueprints, production orders, and specs to meet dimensions and tolerances.
  • Plan and layout bending sequence, referring to drawings and blueprints.
  • Bend products or assemblies of small, light average weight, to large heavy weight.
  • Setup up metal dies in performing operations in forming.
  • Align, fit and/or rework pieces that fail inspection.
  • Select and install correct tooling, make machine adjustments to accommodate different materials and thickness.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, or other tools to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform maintenance on the press brake and report issues or malfunctions.

Press Brake Operator Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience operating a press brake or similar metal-forming machine.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Use measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for up to 6 hours.
  • Lift up to 70 pounds with or without assistance, bend, twist and reach.
  • Ability to grip, twist wrist and tighten hands.
