Ishida president, Ryuichi Ishida, was awarded the prestigious “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” in April 2009. The Order of the Rising Sun was one of the first national decorations awarded by the Japanese government, established in 1875 during the Meiji Era. The order is bestowed upon meritorious individuals (from both Japan and overseas) who have provided exceptional services to the nation or the public. Mr. Ishida was awarded the order in recognition of his contributions to the development of industry in his role as president of the Japan Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association.
“I am both honored and humbled to receive the Order of the Rising Sun”, says Mr. Ishida. “That I was chosen to receive this award is due to the guidance and support from those in related industries, as well as customers and business partners, and not the results of my own individual effort. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all of you, and share the joy of this occasion with Ishida group employees the world over.
“I always ask myself how close I am to my goal of being ‘the fittest of the times,’ and, believing that companies that are admired by others and provide society with useful products will achieve immortality, have continued striving towards these ends for the entire forty-nine years of my working life.
“I have been fortunate to receive various awards at each stage of life and have used the self-respect and confidence gained from these experiences as further motivation on the path towards my goals. I have been honored with this wonderful award as a result of these efforts is extremely gratifying.
“In order to live up to this honor I will renew my efforts to ensure the further development of weighing and packaging systems and the boundless progress of the industry, as well as ensuring that the manufacturing industry contributes to society. In closing, I would like to thank you all once more for your support and ask for your continued guidance and encouragement.”
