Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicate corporate safety vision and objectives to all U.S. locations.
  • Lead Hayward plant safety committee and support safety agenda to all U.S. locations.
  • Research and interpret health, safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Perform health and safety risk assessments of plant practices and work environments.
  • Plan and implement safety training to reduce risks and meet regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage the safety orientation process for new hires
  • Monitor the supply, effectiveness and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Manage medical surveillance programs, including hearing and medical clearance for respirator users.
  • Conduct work area and equipment safety inspections.
  • Identify root cause of safety incidents, accidents and close calls. Accurately report and design corrective measures to abate the chance of re-occurrences.
  • Maintain corporate matrix of key injury/illness loss indicators.
  • Additional Job Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate with insurance carriers and brokers managing workers compensation claims.
  • Facilitate satisfying customer and third-party auditor requests for corporate safety related data.
  • Manage the orientation and qualification of contractors and service providers working in plants.
  • Update environmental permits and registrations with city, county, state and federal agencies.
  • Manage the handling and proper disposal of plant hazardous waste streams. Reduce waste streams of the plant's environmental impact.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience maintaining compliance with Cal and fed OSHA regulations.
  • 5 years minimum safety leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Teaching / training skills through classroom presentation.
  • Skills to generate reports and business correspondence.

Responsible for designing, implementing and continually improving Heat and Control's programs to ensure the health and well being of our employees, contract employees, visitors and the public. Drive initiatives to promote a culture of safety, health and wellness.

Physical Requirements:
- Sit, stand, and walk at times for prolonged periods.
- Climb ladders, scaffolds onto and around manufacturing machinery and manufactured goods.
- Ability to occasional lift/carry up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Work Environment:
- Work in an office and factory environment
- Noise levels in factory at times require hearing protection
- Possible travel domestically to other U.S. locations
