Pattie packaging is no puzzle for Lopez Foods

Lopez Foods Collage Very fragile product, and extreme space limitations where inches of access would determine the success of sanitation, maintenance and production functions, raised many concerns when Lopez Foods decided to expand packaging capabilities at their Oklahoma City, OK plant.

But with equipment from Heat and Control, and the experience of its sales, engineering and project management team, "Each piece of the puzzle fit perfectly," according to Lopez Foods Plant Manager Rich Garofolo, "and we completed the installation days early - unprecedented for the size and scope of the project!"

"The equipment met all of our expectations," says Garofolo, "and continues to perform exceptionally well, 17 hours per day and six days per week. And after all our discussions regarding product breakage, I am glad to tell you that it is a non-issue!"

Lopez Foods' two new lines produce 12 pound packages of frozen pre-cooked sausage patties at 1,300 bags per hour. Each line features FastBack conveyors and a SwitchBack product accumulation system that deliver patties to an Ishida 14-head large capacity waterproof weigher. Support platforms for the weighers and product handling equipment are designed to AMI specification and incorporate Heat and Control's unique "Rapid Deployment" construction to reduce installation costs and expedite production start-up. "Heat and Control proposed several alternative designs that would accomplish our objectives, Garofolo explains. "Throughout the process, their quick response and turnaround time on drawings helped us keep the project on schedule."

Based on the success of this system, Lopez Foods has installed a similar line at their Caryville, TN plant.

Double production with twin-tube packaging

When high-temperature air is introduced into a burner, less fuel is required for combustion. It then spreads slices uniformly across the drain conveyor for more efficient dewatering and feed into the fryer. By using less fresh water and concentrating starch and fines for more efficient removal, Gentle Wash reduces sewer loading and the burden on a starch recovery system.

New Dallas facility offers demos and development of conveyors, seasoners, and more!

New Product Handling Facility at Flower Mound, Texas.Heat and Control Dallas has moved to a new and larger complex to better serve our customers and accommodate our growing sales, engineering and service needs.

Located just a 10-minute drive north from the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, the spacious 28,000 square foot custom-designed building, featuring energy-saving lighting, heating and cooling systems, provides convenient customer access for demonstration and testing of Heat and Control conveyors, accumulators, seasoners and other product handling equipment. A demo room that also features Ishida multihead weighers and other packaging equipment allows clients to observe and evaluate their products running under simulated production conditions, and to receive in-depth training for operators and maintenance staff for a complete packaging line.

Recently, maintenance team members from Ryt-Way Foods in Lakeville, MN, including one hearing-impaired employee, attended Ishida weigher training classes in our Lititz, PA office. In preparation for their visit, we familiarized a sign-language interpreter with the operation of the weigher so she could better translate the terminology and procedures for the trainee.
