Snack Scales Weigh in with Benefits
Situation:
Biscomerica of Rialto, CA had been using a combination weigher (not Ishida) and was experiencing give-aways of three to four grams per jar of their macadamia nuts regardless of jar size. That was pretty pricey when you consider the cost of macadamia nuts.
Solution:
The installation of a 14-head Ishida Multi-head weigher.
Results:
The Ishida weigher cut the give-away down to just around 0.8 grams per jar, an overage of less than 1/3 of nuts previously lost. "Not only is that amazingly low" reports Ayad Fargo, Chief Operating Officer of Biscomerica, "it was also expected, since Ishida had guaranteed giveaway of less than 1 gram per jar."
The weigher's statistical software, which is provided as part of the package, also reveals new levels of detail about how well the system is operating. It enables Biscomerica to obtain data from individual jars instead of a collective average. "It helps us discern if there's been consistent overweights, for example, rather than one bad dump. This type of detailed information is absolutely helpful and useful" says Fargo.
